TWO PEOPLE CAME OUT OF A BUILDING AND INTO A STORY

Hilda decides today to confront her supervisor about …well…a lot of things. Today is the day and theres no turning back now.  As she enters the office, theres a big “do not disturb” sign hanging on the handle of Lolly’s (supervisor) door. Theres a sigh of relief as she starts getting comfortable at her desk, trying to prepare for the rest of the day. First thing, checks her emails. anticipating a message that’s going to ruin her day…that message of course would be coming from Lolly, as nothing satisfies her and in her eyes, Hilda is always inefficient and just not good enough.

Hilda gives her all to her job, or so she thinks. She’s always on time, always meets deadline, hardly stays away from work, a dedicated worker, what could  be the problem? Why is her supervisor always on her case? She questions the smallest things, is never satisfied, one would think she doesn’t like Hilda.

As Hilda prints a few documents for a presentation she has later, she stumbles upon her bosses CV by the printer…guess what? Highest qualification: Grade 12. But then how did she become a superior in such an establishment with a grade 12 qualification?

This answers a lot of my questions, Hilda thought to herself. She is threatened by my Degree in Public Relations, so it seems.  This explains why my work is never good enough; does she even know what she’s doing? That remains a mystery on its own. Hilda decides not to confront her supervisor but instead, to empower herself and look for a better job where her efforts will be recognised…she’s definitely getting out of this building.

  1. Your topic are always very fascinating, not that the other friends and classmates are not. I like the notion of Heilda not to confront her supervior, but to empower herself instead by searching for greener pastures. Bravo!

  2. This is a sad story, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good for Hilda for looking for greener pastures, she must get all the experience and skills she can get and leave that place.
