A star has fallen

It is with sadness to have  heard of young musician, Amy Winehouse’s passing, she was only 28.

According to newspaper reports, she died of a drug overdose, sounds familiar? It seems that most of the celebrities are biting into this drug world.  What causes this? Could it be pressure to perform? Who knows?

I think its such a waste that such a young lady could lose her life like that, it all seems unfair.  Some of us were and still are enjoying her music.  Does the pressure get too much that a person cannot just be sober and continue to work to the best of their ability, with a straight mind?

My condolences go to her family and friends, it can’t be easy but hey, life sucks. L Peace!

Big girl miss a meal

It’s every girls hope to look their best, whether its hair, dress or body weight. Some always stress about how thin or big they are. But what I don’t understand is, if you are not satisfied with your body weight, why not do something about it??

I have big and small friends and I always advise the big ones (when they start nagging about their weight) that its really simple, cut down on your food intake. Eat in smaller portions a few times a day, rather than eating 3 large meals. Waiting until you are hungry before eating is not the way to go, you have to eat every few hours to make sure you don’t get hungry, whether its snacking on fruit or small finger foods, it helps.

I am no dietician or anything close, but I do know that feeling sorry for yourself won’t help you lose weight, its ultimately up to you. Having a very strong will-power is also compulsory and it keeps you going. Right? Peace

A skill set called leadership

I have come across many a people who were in important leadership positions and …..ya.

What is a leader? Can you acquire leadership? Is it a skill? Are you born with it? These are the questions that come to mind when the word “leader” comes into question.

There are a few ways of looking at it.  Some people are born with this skill, for eg: when kids are playing, you can see who the leader in the bunch is.  The one they take instructions from, leads their way, gives orders to the rest.  Where does a kid learn how to be a leader? They don’t, it comes naturally, and so it should.

Many people are placed in leadership roles at their workplaces and they simply don’t crack it.  These so-called managers/supervisors are sometimes terrible at setting an example and getting their subordinates to reach targets, work to the best of their ability, etc and they just burn out. Some take on this role and just make it theirs, with so much effort and pizzazz, they assume the role perfectly. We don’t all have the skill and its very unfortunate, this world would be a much better place if we had good leaders. Peace :J

Rock journalism is people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for

Rock journalism is people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for
people who can’t read” (Frank Zappa) – Comment

LOL, I have never heard of anything called Rock Journalism, journalism yes but not Rock! Frank Zappa? Who’s that?

So I conducted some research and according to google, Rock Journalism is basically music journalism but with concentration and emphasis on the Rock type of music.

According to another website, Frank Zappa WAS an American composer, singer-songwriter, electric guitarist, record producer and film director. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Zappa wrote rock, jazz, orchestral and musique concrète works.

So this statement tells me that this guy didn’t really think much of Rock Journalism, this critique says it all. And this coming from a person very talented and know-all of music, who am I to argue? PeaceJ

List your top 200 achievements

200?? Are you kidding me??? You are literally asking me to write a book here…..LOL.

Anyhow, let’s get serious here. Well, it really depends what you see as an achievement really. For example, getting my matric would be an achievement for me and someone else would see it as nothing, I mean, who doesn’t pass Grade 12? A great many!

We all see things differently and so we should, but there are a few common factors that are deemed as achievements. I am proud to say that I have achieved a lot in my life and still going to achieve a whole lot more, by the grace of God. I can mention so many of these achievements but who cares? I am not doing this for anyone else but myself and those close to me, am not here to prove anything to anyone J Sue me!

I am proud of each and everyone of you for reaching the levels you have, going for gold, doing your utmost best, to reach your goals and fulfil your  dreams.  You are all registered as CPUT students and that to me is an achievement in itself. Pat yourselves on the backJ Peace!

What motivates me?

As a young girl, born and bred in a township called Gugulethu, it wasn’t always fun and games.  I had my challenges, set-backs, struggles but I wasn’t alone, my neighbours were going through worse. So, when posed with a question like this “What motives me”, millions of things flood my mind.

Firstly, my mother is an educated woman. Not just ‘matriculated’ educated, she has about 3 degrees, one in Science, another in Education, the list goes on. My grandparents couldn’t afford to send her to medical school so she had to settle for whatever they had to offer, which was teaching. That is motivation enough for me to strive and work hard to reach greater heights. There aint no stopping here, @least one of her 3 kids should follow in her footsteps, why shouldn’t it be me?

My dad on the other hand suffered a great deal and hardly made it to matric. Being the first born child, he had to sweat to make ends meet, for his parents as well as siblings.  There was no way that he could further his studies, the only option was for him to find a job. I admire him for his selflessness.

I am motivated to be success so that I may do my best to fullfill not only my dreams, but to be able to take care of my parents the best way I know how.  PeaceJ

10 Most unexpected consequences of being online

1.... Chatrooms – you find yourself addicted to these chatrooms.
2 ...So addicted that you starting chatting to strangers about personal things.
3 ...Then there are these social networks that we can’t live a day without, eg facebook.
4.... You find yourself sharing photos of yourself with the whole world
5 ... Sharing your inner thoughts, hopes and dreams
6 ... Everyday communication with loved ones, friends and potential business partners.

7 ...You become very anti-social and spend most of your time online.
8 ...The last time you visited friends and family was last year, because……well….you chat to them daily anyway on twitter or facebook.
9 .... Longer and more productive conversations because you have more time to chat online than face to face.

10 ... Less or no time for assignments because the minute you’re infront of a computer, all you want to do is logon to facebook or twitter instead of doing your research J Peace!

Everyday is a good day

I am breathing, walking, talking, can hear, see..all on my own, what more can I ask for?

Each and everyone of us has a ton to be grateful for, yes things aren’t always rosy but we always get the chance to correct things..right? Each day is a gift; some don’t have the privilege of seeing another day.

We tend to dwell on the past and forget that the past is gone and it will never return. We have been given another chance to appreciate all that we have, whether its family, friends, opportunities, challenges, as well as another chance to practice corrective measures on past mistakes.

Everyday is indeed a good day. Yes we all have stress, short-comings, blunders, haters, enemies, who cares? Each day presents an opportunity to shine and be the best person you can possibly be. Peace!

The elephant in the room

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ow my gosh I can not get over this over whelming stench in this room. With the day I had, you would swear I would at least be blessed  with a relaxing ambience,  when I got into this room but dear mother of Miss Magdalene I am drowning in the stench of  a dead rodent. Looking left I see that my colleges are turning red (looking like they’ve just swallowed raw jalapenos) , looking right everyone on my right is coughing so much that you would swear that they were just rescued from a Nazi Gas chamber.

Talk about having nuts peeuw, as I come to understand this unfortunate circumstance that we find ourselves in, is in our control. Every individual in this room knows where this decaying rat is hidden but nun of us have has the CHUTZPAH to voice out the grievances. Sad thing is I come to these company meetings for the food but today I wouldn’t be able to stomach anything because it would be the same as eating your favourite meal inside a sewage plant. The company Boss is twitching an titling in front as he is addressing us, poor man is so uncomfortable but I wonder is it that he is nervous because of the financial report his giving or is he uncomfortable because he killed a rat an stuck it in his shoes. Funny thing is that we all want to tell him but nun of us will so let me say it in my head and pray to God that my boss can read minds. Here it goes “DEAR SIR NEXT TIME YOU BLESS US WITH YOUR DIVINE AND CELESTIAL PRESSENCE DON’T BRING ANY DEAD ANIMALS” much better. Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh happy to be out of there now I can go back to earth aka Hygiene land and hopefully never go back to the Land of the Decaying Rat. Peace!
